Summary of 2022

December 31, 2022

2022 has been an incredible year for Kayla Norene Photography. I have traveled to Florida, California, Hawaii, Arizona, Oregon and of course Washington to capture equestrians and their horses.

I worked with some of the most amazing equestrian brands this year including Dapplebay, Team CH Dressage, Iron Horse Farm, Botori, Donadt Dressage, Meg Dunne Training, Aulita Eventing, Forest Park Saddlery, Auven, Magnolia Ridge Training Center, Gray & Bay Co and Euphoric equestrian. I phtoographed in pretty epic locations for these brands too Including Orlando Florida, Southern California and Maui Hawaii.

I had the opportunity to mentor with Shelley Paulsons through her WINGS mentorship program and through a weekend with her and Eye Candy Jumpers in Wellington, Florida. I am continuing with my mentorship with Shelley to this day and am so excited about the growth I have seen in my photography skills through working with her.

I had attended a workshop hosted by Tisha of TPCreations with the sweetest group of gals in Arizona where we not only talked editing and took fun photos, but I had some of the most amazing time! This was the best way to get me out of a photographer rut, hang out with fellow photographers and just do what we love!

When Kirstie Marie made her way to Washington State I had the amazing opportunity to be her assistant for her session. Shadowing her shoot was very eye opening and a ton of fun! This woman knows everything about the western realm, inside and out and she has such a beautiful way of communicating with her clients.

Video became huge this year so my business began focusing a lot on video, which lead to the big switch of camera gear from my Nikon D780 to my Sony A1. Changing gear is always scary, but changing brands was such a huge learning curve! I am still learning things about my Sony set up but I am so head over heals in love with the quality of product I can deliver now.

Action photography also became a large part of my business this year, I photographed Mounted shooting shows, Dressage and Eventing for the first time ever this year. I had the honor of capturing shows for Meg Dunne Hunter Jumper Shows, Anne Kurinski Clinic hosted at Heirloom Equestrian Center by Meg Dunne Events, South Sound Mounted Shooters Clinic, Cash Days Mounted Shooting show, Equestrian Institute Horse Trials at Washington State Horse Park and Aspen Farms Horse Trials as a second shooter for Cortney Drake Equine.
